Meet the Coach

Coach Andrew Bettencourt '02 returns for his 11th season as the head basketball coach for the Braves and 20th season overall in the program.  In his time in the program he has been a part of several league, North Coast Section and NorCal contending and champion teams.  As head coach he was named the Napa County Coach of the Year after guiding the Braves to the MCAL title in 2015.  As an assistant, he was a part of the historic 2013-2014 team that won the MCAL regular season and postseason crowns before going on to win the NorCal state championship that year. Overall he has been a part of four league champion teams in the basketball program.  In his time at the junior varsity level he guided the young Braves to four consecutive first place finishes including back to back undefeated league seasons in 2008-2009. This past season, the Braves went 25-7 while winning the VVAL Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Braves were the #3 seed in NCS Division 4 and won 2 games to earn a berth in the NCS Semis and qualify for the CIF State Playoffs. The Braves also won the REIBT in Healdsburg and were the NCS D4 Scholastic Champions with a non-weighted team GPA of 3.0.

A JS class of '02 alum, Coach Bettencourt played four years of football at JS and was a member of the 2001 section championship team.

Personally, coach holds his BA in History from Sonoma State University and is an alum of Justin-Siena. He and his wife Maci live in Sonoma with his step-daughters Hailey and Lia.
