Program Philosophy

Family– Through unconditional love we will build a trust that will allow for individuals and the team to achieve remarkable things both on and off the court, while cultivating relationships that will last a lifetime

Attitude
– A positive attitude combined with a disciplined team-first mentality will ultimately lead to positive results. The right attitude will lead to vulnerability, and result in personal and team growth.

Toughness
– An unwavering focus on the process and things necessary to ensure that you and your teammates strive for perfection mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Finish
– Complete a task from start to finish, with focused attention to detail and full effort. Follow through both on and off the court is the expectation. Whether it is chasing down a loose ball in practice or thoroughly completing all school assignments, finishing is critically important to sustainable success.

George Nessman enters his ninth year as Athletic Director and second as head basketball coach at Justin-Siena.  An alumnus and later a teacher and coach at De La Salle, Mr. Nessman has been in Lasallian education his entire life and upholds those values throughout all of athletics.  Under his guidance athletics at Justin-Siena have grown tremendously in both depth and commitment with an increased focus on strength and conditioning in all programs.  A basketball coach prior to his work as an AD, Mr. Nessman’s prior stops include the head coaching job at San Jose State, Bakersfield Community College, Porterville Community College and De La Salle High School. His time at Porterville was particularly successful as he guided the Pirates to a state title in 1999-2000 on the back of a 39 game winning streak that spanned two seasons.  His success at Porterville earned him the honors of being both in the school’s and Community College Basketball Hall of Fame. Personally, Mr. Nessman earned his BA-Social Welfare from the University of California-Berkeley, his MA in Education, San Francisco State University and his MA in PE, Health and Recreation from St Mary's College.  He resides in Napa with his wife Nancy and is the father of four adult children, one of whom is a now an alumni who also coached in the Justin-Siena basketball program.
