Part spectacle, part theater, and part sporting event, in the 24 Hour Plays, 6 ten-minute plays are written, rehearsed, and performed in a 24 Hour period. No scripts on stage! All lines are memorized--in one day! Students are actors, directors, writers, and crew. Back by popular demand, this innovative theatre program is coming to the stage in Siena Hall on March 4, and all are invited!
Most plays are a long time in the making. They can take months, if not years, to write. Rehearsals usually last several weeks. But in the case of The 24 Hour Plays - at Justin-Siena for one night only on March 4 - the time constraint imposed on the student artists involved is the whole point of the event. Licensed from The 24 Hour Company in New York, where the concept originated, the event is sure to draw a crowd if last year’s event is any indication.
The framework for creating the plays is always the same. At 11 pm the night before the show, the student artists meet. The students bring their creative energy and unique talents, divide into groups and collaborate to create something they've never done on stage before and that no one has ever seen before. The groups then have about seven hours to complete a 10-12-minute script.
Don’t miss this highly creative display of student ingenuity, talent, and good old-fashioned fun!
The Middle School Speech Contest is for 7th and 8th grade students from our partner schools. Students will give a speech before Justin-Siena student and faculty judges in four categories. Student participation is by invitation only and must register with their current teacher.
