The Homecoming Court is made up of seniors selected by the faculty and their classmates for being leaders among their peers and examples of what a well-formed Justin Siena senior is in our community.
From this Royal Court, a Homecoming Queen and King is selected who is someone of good character, participates enthusiastically in school life, strives for academic excellence, serves the school community, and creatively engages challenges and opportunities on a daily basis. Come to the Homecoming Game Friday night to find our who will be our reigning King and Queen for the 2017-18 school year!
Ally Jackson
Who is Ally Jackson? She’s that super cool senior with the giraffe backpack! She likes to spread positivity and fun throughout the Justin-Siena community—she was the life of the party at 4 am at Frosh Lock-In, as many people know! One of Ally’s favorite parts of high school has been competing as a multi-sport athlete: she is captain of the varsity basketball and varsity softball teams #allsportsmatter. Ally cannot sing or dance to save her life but will one day be princess Belle in Disneyland or Gabriella from High School Musical. Her dream is to meet Steph Curry and babysit his kids. Ally is a Student Ambassador, a part of the LSL team, and involved in many clubs on campus. She is a member of the California Scholarship Federation, National Honors Society AND the National ART Honors Society because she does it all. After graduation, Ally plans to go to a four year college on the east coast—she is originally from New York! She has no idea what she will major in but she is open to pursuing a course of study that she loves.
Verenice Tapia
Verenice (VER-KNEE-SAY) Tapia is also known as Vere (verrrre), knee-say, very-nice, or v-nice...and she responds to all! She is an older sister to her two brothers and daughter of her loving parents—family is a very important part of Verenice’s life. She may have put 5’2 on her drivers license, but is actually 4’11. Although when you are around her she does not seem short, since she has such a large personality. Verenice is also proud of her Mexican heritage! She is fluent in Spanish, and is currently working on acquiring a third language. She is welcoming and thoughtful — her genuine kindness can be noticed through her beautiful smile and her extremely contagious laugh. She is also adventurous and loves to explore and try new things. A committed athlete, Verenice has been swimming on the Justin-Siena swim team since her freshman year. She spends most of her time spreading her love through our ALL HEART community.
Catherine Flaherty
Actively involved in all things Braves, Catherine strives to make a positive impact at all times, starting with the smile on her face. Catherine has participated in nearly every aspect of student life at Justin-Siena—on stage, on the field, in a courtroom—all while earning a spot on the Highest Honor Roll every semester and membership in the National Honors Society. An active member of class council since her freshman year, Catherine has also been a part of the LSL team. Over the summer, Catherine strengthened her leadership skills and connections at the Lasallian Student Leadership Conference at St. Mary’s College, where she had the chance to collaborate with students from other Lasallian schools in the District of San Francisco-New Orleans. She also decided to try Mock Trial her junior year, getting all the way to State Finals, and loved it! She serves as an attorney this year. Perhaps the most formative experience she’s ever had has been at California Girls’ State, where she was chosen by a panel to represent Justin-Siena. Catherine has been a recipient of the Loyalty award for two years and the LSL “I Believe” Award for compassion, authenticity, and determination. Outside of school, she has volunteered as an activities coordinator at Vintage Assisted Living and served as a student chef at Ceres Community Project. Catherine is a proud musical nerd, loving oldest sibling, and friend to all.
Natalie Gulrajani
Natalie lives and breathes Justin-Siena. She has had the privilege of being in the leadership classes at Justin for the past two years, and is currently serving as a Senior Class Council representative. Natalie and several other classmates worked relentlessly over summer breaks to make our All Heart identity come to life. Recently, Natalie was able to lead a Kairos retreat, which she says is one of the most amazing things she’s ever experienced. She’s a member of NHS and CSF, a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist, but what is really important to Natalie is that she works hard and plays often. Natalie has competed on the Varsity soccer and lacrosse teams at Justin-Siena since her sophomore year, and this year she is a captain of the lacrosse team! Natalie’s true passion is helping others, and she’s been fortunate enough to go on several service/mission trips throughout her years in high school. She dreams of one day having a job that will make a positive difference in the lives of others every day.
Kendall Martin
Kendall is ridiculously funny, but is often the only one laughing at her jokes. She brings her “A” game to every dress up day and sporting event. You may have been inspired by her neon tie dye backpack that says “today will be awesome.” She does have a studious side that has landed her in the National Honor Society, California Scholarship and Honor Roll membership. She loves being a part of the Senior Class Council, and supporting school spirit! As a 7-year member of the Napa Track Club, Kendall has thrown the javelin in Junior Olympic and Junior National events every year. She won third place in the 2017 USATF Youth National Meet in Chicago, Illinois. As a three-year Varsity Track and Field athlete, she competes in the hurdles and relays, and is an MCAL top 3 finisher in those events. She is honored to have been selected Team Captain and MVP, and very proud to have been a member of the 4 x 100 meter relay team that broke the long-standing school record in 2016. Kendall is also captain of the Varsity Volleyball team, and has played for Varsity for 3 years. She is grateful to have been able to combine her love for sports with service at the Serve It Up Volleyball Tournament and youth track meets each year. You can find her waterskiing in the summer, and she hopes to continue to be a student-athlete at a west-coast university next fall.
Hannah Brudney
Hannah Brudney is a really, really great girl. Hannah has participated in dance at Justin Siena since her freshman year and theatre since her sophomore year. She can normally be found on stage —whether it be in Siena Hall or one of the community theatres where she has had the opportunity to perform! Hannah was last seen in Napa’s local production of Chicago, where she got to work among very talented adult actors and actresses. She has been seen in many of Justin-Siena’s productions and her favorites are Once On This Island, Her Infinite Variety, and of course ComedySportz. A fun fact about Hannah Brudney is that she spends her free time working as a Disney Princess at parties and other fun events -- where she enjoys working with children and making their dreams come true! When she isn’t performing, Hannah loves to spend time with her amazing friends and family. She is so thankful to have made so many lasting and important relationships with the staff and students of Justin-Siena. After her time here at Justin-Siena, Hannah dreams of making it into a conservatory program and getting a Bachelors of Fine Arts in musical theatre.
Juliette Nast
Juliette Nast (aka Juliette FAST) has been lots of places and done lots of things. She’s lived in 8 different cities and traveled everywhere from Egypt to China. Juliette’s Justin-Siena journey began when she started a week late as a super shy freshman. Now, her face lights up whenever someone asks her about school and is no longer shy once you get to know her. She has been running varsity cross country and track since she was in 8th grade and once ran a mile in 5.20! If she could, she would wear her cross country jersey to the Homecoming Dance. Not only is she a stellar student, she is also president of Chinese Club, co-captain of the cross country team, and can play the piano, guitar, and ukulele! If you’re looking for her at school, she is probably in the Mandarin room or sitting under a tree with her very very good friend Hak (vote for him!!). One of her lesser known passions is for healthy eating and aesthetic food (check out @nutbuttersnruns). In her free time, she enjoys going on adventures with her family, especially SCUBA diving. After high school, Juliette hopes to study at a four-year university to prepare for medical school and also study abroad in China along the way.
Melissa Corona
Melissa Corona is well known for her athleticism and her loyalty. She has been a 4H member for the last 5 years and has donated her time helping younger girls at Softball clinics. Last year, she was part of the Venaver Arizona service trip and opened herself to a new perspective on border issues. The past two years Melissa has discovered an interest in music thanks to the instrumental music class and Mr. Terry. Outside of the classroom, she has been a member on both the Varsity Softball team and Varsity Cross Country teams for all 4 years. Her athletic accolades include: Best Defensive Player, Player of the Year, MCAL Honorable Mention, and MCAL 2nd Team for her high school softball career. Melissa has also been part of the State qualifying team for Cross Country the past 2 years. You can always find her on the softball fields or running around Napa with her twin sister, Mia. Although, she’s no Kevin Palla when it comes to singing, she’s best at lip syncing and dancing along to any Disney movie that’s ever aired on TV, especially with her yonger sister Sophie. After she graduates from high school, she hopes to attend Saint Mary’s College in Moraga to study Kinesiology and become the next “Sarah” (Gobel) as an Athletic Trainer. Her favorite animal is a BATT.
Rahim Burdette
Our Student Body Co-President Rahim Burdette is one of the most amazing and ridiculous guys you’ll ever meet! You may recognize him by his terrible hair, or his iconic fashion sense, the excellent company he keeps among friends, or maybe his crazy school spirit at campus events of all kinds. Wherever you run into this stand up fella, you can expect him to be doing something inspiring or, in the very least, amusing and thought-provoking. Whether it’s running track or cross country, serving in Lasallian Student Leadership, working his after school job, or rigorously attending to his school work, this guy knows how to stay busy and give it everything he’s got! Rahim truly embodies what it means to be a Brave, and lives out the All Heart identity in all aspects of his life. He has been involved in leadership at Justin-Siena for three years, and strives to be “the next Andrew Campos.” You may remember some of his finer moments, such as the 2016 Homecoming Chariot Races, or being awarded the junior class Spirit Award. Catch him at any sports game in a crazy outfit, screaming cheers for his fellow Braves. Frequently known as Justin-Siena’s resident “hippie”, Rahim always shows up lookin’ funky fresh and ready to hug some trees.
Hakushin Cho
Hakushin, also known as Hak to friends and acquaintances alike, is a friendly and beloved member of the Justin-Siena community. As an international student from Japan, who puts himself out there on a daily basis, Hak has shown us all another example of what it means to be a Brave. He loves tennis. He loves music. He loves physics. He’s dating Juliette. People call him the Asian Roger Federer. They call him the Asian Ed Sheeran. They call him the Asian Einstein. They call him the Asian Romeo. Hak was born in China but he moved to Japan when he was 5 years old. He speaks 4 languages Japanese, Mandarin, English and Spanish. He played No.1 singles for the tennis team his Sophomore and Junior years. He was also the team captain both years. Hak has lived in the Student Residence for three years and his favorite food there is the ice cream, chips, and dried mangos. Sarcasm once was very confusing to him, but he has finally learned not to take everything people say literally. His favorite parts of America are Ms. Alexander-Short, the Baileys, the Schmitz, Justin- Siena, In-n-Out, and Juliette. Vote for Hak and Juliette!
Ret Torkelson
Robert Erik Torkelson was born in Chicago and is the third Robert in the family, so he goes by his initials R.E.T. Ret has been fortunate to play on the varsity football team all four years at Justin-Siena. His favorite memory as a Brave was playing varsity football as a freshman and winning the North Coast Section Championship Title. This year, he was named one of the team captains and dreams of leading the Braves to another NCS Championship! Ret played lacrosse his freshman and sophomore years and was named Defensive MVP. Due to an injury prohibiting him from playing lacrosse his junior year, he decided to run track. This year, for his spring sport, he is going to challenge himself by trying out for the tennis team. Ret loves being outdoors and has been skiing and fishing ever since he could walk. Ret applied the relentless work ethic and discipline he learned through sports to his academic career, enabling him to become a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation. Whether it’s in the classroom or on the sports fields, he leaves it all out there. Ret is All Heart, All the Time.
Michael Rupprecht
Whether he’s playing piano, writing or acting, this five-foot ten, one-hundred and fifty pound Italian stallion is the hero that nobody asked for, but everybody needs. Michael has only been at Justin Siena for only a little over a year and is thankful for everyone who voted for him to be on the Homecoming Court. He’s a lover of music, nature, literature, Christmas, sciences, and helping the world become a better place. You’ll always find Michael looking for ways to carry out philanthropic acts and being very loud in public. He used to be a monster on the basketball court in middle school and was constantly in the time-out chair in elementary school. He wants to save the world and used to dream of applying for a job at the Krusty Krab. If you see him in the halls, never be afraid to say hi! Michael is very outgoing and has been in every drama production at the school since he arrived. He is also a member of LSL this year and is giving leadership his all. Michael is killing it in Instrumental Music and is even learning to play the saxophone! He puts his family and friends above everything and hopes you have a great day, a great Homecoming Week and that you discover your infinite potential. The world needs you.
Jack Sullivan
What words comes to mind when you think of Jack Sullivan? Smart? Funny? Ridiculously handsome? We say, all of the above. Jack spends a very large amount of time on the runway. No, he is not a model. (Surprised?) Actually, Jack earned his private pilot’s license during his junior year and it is that kind of runway where he spends much of his time. Since last year, he has not stopped flying! Because he was too afraid to play football, Jack settled for golf. Now, he can proudly say that he is not only a four year varsity member of the golf team but a two year varsity captain as well. Jack takes pride in his academic work and is a member of National Honors Society. On the weekends, Jack can be found at Green Valley Country Club cleaning golf carts and shining shoes. Jack is also the president of the Young Democrats Club and is a politically involved liberal on campus and in the rest of his life. One day, Jack aspires to attend the United States Air Force Academy and pursue a career in aviation.
Jack Brown
Jack Brown is a swell, multicultural guy with a worldly young soul. He is a dual citizen in the US and in Spain AND can speak four different languages. He even knows how to use chopsticks! Jack enjoys tennis and is the captain of the team here—which is “kind of a super big deal.” He wears glasses and enjoys chess, which makes him appear impressively smart. He serves as the Team Manager for basketball as a way to support student athletes and stay close to a sport he loves. As a super sporty person, Jack also does ComedySportz. He’s a proud, spirited Yell Leader, and you can catch him at the football games running the music in the student section. He is very involved with the Young Democrats Club here on campus as a steadfast political liberal. Admittedly, Jack did not learn to tie his shoes until he was 9, but has now moved on from Velcro and will never look back. Jack thinks more about getting into college than what he might study—wish him luck!
Robert Batt
Robert is gifted both musically and athletically. He has a great passion for music and is an accomplished guitar player. He has also picked up bass. Having played guitar for almost 7 years, Robert enjoys sharing his talent with everyone and loves to make people happy through his music. His favorite type of music is rock and roll and his favorite bands are easily Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. In addition to Robert’s musical talents he is also a member of the football and track teams. A three-year varsity player, Robert’s enthusiasm cannot be missed and his energy on the sidelines (and field) motivates his teammates and coaches. Blink and you might miss him sprinting on the JS track. Yes, he’s that fast! He’s been a member of the track team since he was a sophomore and was quickly added to the relay team. His proudest and most memorable accomplishment with his teammates was beating Napa High and Vintage in the 4 x 100 relay last season. Robert enjoys the outdoors and is interested in pursuing a career in agriculture or forestry in the National Parks and Forest Services. He enjoys watching baseball, football, and NASCAR. His favorite restaurant is Via CORONA.
Marlon Washington II
Marlon Washington II is honored to be a part of the 2017 Homecoming Court! He has been on Class Council for the past four years and was on the LSL team last year as a junior. Along with rigorous academic study, he has been thrilled to play football, track, baseball and basketball as a Brave. Marlon puts the “ALL” in All Heart. He proudly serves as a Student Ambassador and on the JSHS Mock Trial team, where he has advanced to state competition. He looks forward to making a difference in the world by pursuing his dream of becoming a physician. Marlon has assisted with coordination of a medical nonprofit organization and conducted genetics research. He is motivated to lend a helping hand - serving meals at a local shelter, tutoring on an Indian Reservation on VENAVER Montana, and, recently, preparing sandwiches for first responders and evacuees of the Atlas Fire. In his spare time, he enjoys videography. Last year, Marlon made a national film debut on a well-known social media commercial on Thanksgiving Day. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Smile, you never know if you’ll make a YouTube cameo on his channel, Moments with Marlon!
Congratulations to Hak and Juliette on being named King and Queen!
