Program Philosophy

Justin Siena's program has a team-based focus, rather than purely an individualized emphasis. Within that team dynamic, there is a spotlight on each competitor’s path to reaching their own potential through 100% effort, determination, the mastery of skills and camaraderie. How to be a great teammate shares equal importance with how to be a great athlete. Goal setting for both the team and its individuals, and the work necessary to achieve those high standards, is the basis of our training. To be successful, athletes must apply themselves in the classroom and be good citizens in the school community. They carry all these things across the finish line.

Meet the Coach

Tracy Martin enters her 5th season as the Head Track & Field Coach, having spent the previous 4 years as an assistant. In those 9 years, 21 different school records have been set. Martin has spent 10 years as an All-Level Running Mechanics Coach, 4 years as a Club Coach, 7 years as a Middle School Coach, and 10 years as an Invitational Director. Martin has coached her athletes to 7 school records in sprints and relays in 4 years at Justin-Siena, and 11 school records overall. In 2021, Martin led both the Boys and Girls teams to VVAL Championships as both teams went undefeated. The Girls and Boys were in the Marin County Athletic League top 3 teams at Championships in 2016 - 2018. In 2016 she led her Girls team to the Bearcat Invitational Champions. Martin has produced 8 MCAL Individual Event Champions in the past 3 years, while 17 Justin-Siena athletes qualified for NCS Redwood Empire on average the past 4 years. Coach Martin has also had 10 Justin-Siena athletes qualify for the NCS Meet of Champions in each of the past 4 years.

Martin was a Track & Field athlete herself, competing in High School and Club track and field in the 200m, 400m, relay and the Long Jump. Martin also competed collegiately at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the 400m, 800m and Long Jump. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from UCSB in Communication, and is USA Track & Field Certified.
