Braves Report: December 5 2018

Fall Sports All-VVAL Announced; Winter Sports heating up
Girls Tennis: Two Justin-Siena Girls' Tennis Players were invited to participate in the Division 1 NCS singles tournament.  Parvathi Shanker was awarded the #1 seed in the bracket, which landed her a bye in the 15 player field. Pavarthi ultimately took third in the section after winning in the quarters and losing in the semifinals before winning her consolation match.    Priyanka Shanker played in the opening round and dropped a close 4-6, 4-6 decision.  Both players were undefeated in VVAL play.   

Football:  After finishing their season with a spirited playoff run in the NCS Division V quarterfinals, the gridiron Braves landed 8 student-athletes on the All-VVAL teams.  They are:  Barrett Donohoe 1st Team QB, Luigi Albano-Dito 1st Team WR, Zach Keefer 1st Team OL, Solomone Anitoni 2nd Team RB, John Horn 2nd Team OLB, Blake Hoban 2nd Team CB, Michael Fitzgerald Honorable Mention MLB, Mile Williams Honorable Mention OLB

Boys and Girls Water Polo:  WIth the girls tying for the VVAL title and qualifying for NCS playoffs and the boys finishing 3rd in the VVAL, both team were well represented on the All-League teams.  Their recepients are: Brix Kowalski 1st team, Jake Jeramaz 2nd team, Kevin Galvin 2nd team. Meghan Hansen 1st team, Sarah Reynolds 1st team Sophia Samson 2nd team, Angelina Phinney 2nd team, Maddie Vanoni 2nd team.  

Girls Basketball: The Varsity Girls Basketball team has started the season 2-2 and is playing in the 70th annual REIBT Tournament at Healdsburg High School this week-they took second in the same tournament last year. The Braves have beaten Terra Linda and St. Vincent's, with losses to Marin Catholic and Tamalpais.

Wrestling:  Continued its season at the Vallejo Invitational with Cooper Cohee and Caden Parlett blazing to 5-0 finishes to earn gold medals. Cohee scored five pins while Parlett notched two pins. Trace Cosgrove, Cole Chatagnier and Zacky Zurowski scored silver medals with 4-1 records. Sebastian Medina also earned the silver with three victories. Nico Minardos and Star Gil earned bronze medals.

Boys Basketball: The Boys Varsity Basketball program is currently 3-1 as they head into the REIBT Tournament at Healdsburg High School this week. The Braves 3 wins came last week against El Molino, Vacaville Christian, and Richmond High School. Their 1 loss was on the road at Marin Catholic High School. After the REIBT Tournament the Braves will be at Hercules High School Dec. 10th and then at home against St. Vincent on Dec. 14th at 7pm.
