Kudos to graduating senior Anais Gonzalez on earning first prize for her short story!
Over 40 years ago, the Jessamyn West Creative Writing Contest was created to honor excellence in young adult fiction, poetry, and non-fiction writing and it continues to flourish this year with more than 60 entries from high schoolers in the Napa Valley.
Anais Gonzalez '17 won first place in the fiction writing category for her short story, "Queen." She received the award at a presentation held at the Napa Valley College on May 16. The story is also to be published is the Justin-Siena Lit Mag later this month.
