"Justin-Siena has afforded me the opportunity to grow in unimaginable ways. I was challenged and pushed out of my comfort zone, both inside and outside of the classroom. I began high school timid and shy, but because of the opportunities I was provided at JS, I became a confident and social student leader."

What was your favorite class at JS?
AP Spanish allowed for me to develop my skills in a third language while also getting a feel for what the true Spanish culture and lifestyle is like. Our fabulous teacher, Ms. Llana, understood that culture and rhetoric must be connected for lingual success, so we balanced Spanish reading and writing with salsa dancing, Spanish documentaries and Spanish music. The dynamic of the class was unlike any other class I have taken; every student was truly excited to participate, not hesitating at the possibility of making a mistake. An accelerated course quickly became an immersive and supportive cultural experience, giving me a newfound appreciation for a culture different from my own.
Co-curricular Involvement at JS:

What is your favorite JS memory?
I will never forget the intense feeling of accomplishment and pride along with nostalgia that came with the completion of our final homecoming celebration. As a class council member, I saw the vast talents of my classmates come together to create a beautiful representation of everything our class represents. Artists, dancers, singers, choreographers, writers and organizers all aligned to make our final homecoming a total success, from decorations to performances. We supported each other and worked together, like a true family, to make sure all 170 of us had a week we would never forget. It also marked the beginning of a series of nostalgic moments as we realized our time at JS was coming to a close.
What is your favorite thing to do at JS?
My favorite thing to do at JS is to spend time at the picnic benches on sunny senior lawn. In enjoying the beautiful scenery of our park-like campus with my closest friends, I appreciate the comfort and true feeling of safety this place has provided me. As a senior, simple moments like these are the ones I have come to treasure most.
A high school should foster a student's interest while allowing him to grow. Justin-Siena has afforded me the opportunity to grow in unimaginable ways. At this school, community means everything, and students and teachers truly become a second family. My high school experience became an extension of my home, and this comfort and support has been the greatest source of love for me as I prepare for adulthood.
