2015: Initiative for the Arts

Help us realize a vision to create a space where students can inspire and be inspired.
Justin-Siena Theatre began in 1969 and, for almost 50 years, has been well known in the community and a great source of pride for our school. Since that time, the program has expanded to include all of the Visual and Performing Arts, including theatre, dance, visual art, digital art, instrumental music, choral music, and film. The Arts are more than entertainment, they teach essential 21st century skills of creativity, innovation, adaptation, problem solving, and collaboration and serves as a cornerstone program for an esteemed college preparatory education.
Creativity abounds at Justin-Siena, and now it’s time to shine a light on some long awaited and much needed upgrades to a facility that has hosted countless performances and delighted thousands of guests. Help us transform the North Gym into a well-appointed performance and learning space for our highly acclaimed Arts program.
  • 1st prize student-made and acted short film included in the Napa Valley Film Festival
  • Established as a designated regional test center for the highly regarded London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and a recent 100% pass rate on exams
  • Brilliantly executed ambitious productions such as “Phantom of the Opera,” “Singin’ In the Rain,” and “Anything Goes;” to name a few
  • Public music performances at festivals and civic gatherings across many genres from rock to sacred, and a capella to instrumental
  • Student art portfolios boasting award-winning and published works including commissioned Christmas card artwork
  • Alumni making a living in the arts such as Ellen Toscano ’01 in San Francisco’s Beach Blanket Babylon; our own dance instructor Lisa Clark-Schmeling ’84’s Dance Company making it to the finals in “America’s Got Talent;” recent concert tour for Diego Garcia ’94; and acting professionally in Los Angeles is Michael Starr ’10; just to cite a few . . .
  • And the list of creative talent goes on!
The proposed enhancements for the North Gym benefit all students and Justin-Siena family and friends alike. Not only will we be able to provide a more relevant and safe learning environment for our young artists by providing the latest technology in equipment, professional instruction from our resident faculty artists as well as guest artists, and a dedicated instructional space well appointed for a full schedule of course offerings, but our friends, families, and patrons of the arts will enjoy an enhanced theatre-going experience in the form of comfortable seating, quality lighting and sound, and other conveniences.

Your support will allow us to acquire new equipment, provide instructional enhancements, and make essential repairs so that our Arts program may soar to even higher heights in 2015-16 while still utilizing the facility for athletic practices as we do now.

Priorities Include:
  • Technical control booth
  • Dimmable house lights
  • Lighting and sound
  • Padded theater seating
  • Lobby and restroom upgrades
  • Stage drapery and rigging
  • Theater storage for costumes, props, and more
  • Locker Room improvements
  • Instructional furnishings including whiteboard, LCD projector
