What was your favorite class at JS?
Art has been a constant escape for me creatively. The environment is so positive, accepting, and people are willing to give helpful critique. Mrs. Jacobson has been very supportive while pushing me to be a better artist and put my full self into every art piece. I have seen so much growth especially in AP Art; I started the year very unsure of myself, but by the end I am confident in my art and my creative process.
Co-curricular Involvement at JS:
lacrosse, volleyball, Lasallian Youth Assembly, Venaver Napa Farmworkers, Kairos retreat leader, National Art Honors Society, Spirit Club, Film Club, Do Something Club
Where would you find me on campus?
Usually with my friends in the LSL room.
What is your favorite JS memory?
Definitely Lasallian Youth Assembly. If it weren't for Justin-Siena I wouldn't be the person I am today. This trip changed my life. I met Lasallians from Washington all the way to Northern Mexico and we spent a week in San Diego learning about immigration while doing service too. I learned about my faith, the importance of education and advocacy, the responsibility we have as Lasallians to serve and help others, and I made some of the best friends of my life.
What's your favorite thing to do at JS?
Honestly just hang out with my friends and even adults on campus. People are very kind and it's great to talk to teachers, hear their stories, and get to know them better. I've had my Spanish teacher teach me how to dance during lunch time or my Statistics teacher share life advice and motivation that I genuinely cherish. Teachers, like our LSL directors, who I've never even had a class with have become like mentors to me and help guide me both spiritually and just in life as well. I love my friends, I love our school spirit, and I really just love what Justin-Siena is about.
People here genuinely care about you and want to see you succeed. All of the faculty and staff are always so kind. Teachers take extra time to help you and make sure you understand the material. They really care about you, beyond just the classroom they want to make sure you are emotionally healthy as well. Justin-Siena has given me opportunities that have helped me get to where I am today. To say I'm grateful is an understatement.
Advice to JS Students:
Do not be afraid to try new things and chase what you are passionate about. Stick with people who are like-minded and want to see you grow, but also make sure you always stay open-minded. Be yourself, chase what you love, and put your all into everything you do.
