ADVANCEMENT/ENRICHMENT COURSES

Transition to High School:  This two-week course is designed for incoming Justin-Siena freshman students who scored below the 50th percentile on the entrance examination (High School Placement Test).  This course will provide students with an introduction to college-preparatory skills in writing, math, critical reasoning, and study skills that will be required for success at Justin-Siena High School.  This course will also provide students with a pre-orientation to Justin-Siena’s campus, procedures, and policies.  This two-week course is offered at two different times during Summer School. 
DATES/TIMES:   Session A meets 9am-12pm from June 21st-July 2nd (M-F).
                          
Session B meets 9am-12pm from July 5th-July 16th (M-F).
COST:                 $250 ($225 if paid in full by May 31st)

Driver’s Education:  This course is a pre-requisite to driver training, both of which must be completed by California State Law.  Topics include basic driving skills, defensive driving, the California Vehicle Code, and how to be a smart driver when others around you are not.   Note:  Driver Training must be completed through a state certified Driver’s Instructional School.  Students in this course must be of appropriate age as determined by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
DATES/TIMES:   This class meets 8am-2pm from June 14th-18th.
COST:                 $250 ($225 if paid in full by May 31st)

Accelerated Algebra I:  This 10-unit course is the equivalent of a full year of high school Algebra I.  This course is designed for students who are placed into Algebra I or Honors Algebra I for their freshman year at Justin-Siena.  Students who earn a B- or higher in this class will qualify for Geometry.  This course includes the study of linear equations and inequalities, systems of equations, polynomials, and factoring.
DATES/TIMES:   This class meets 8am-2:30pm from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
COST:                 $1000 (or $900 if paid in full by May 31st)

Accelerated Geometry:  This 10-unit course is the equivalent of a full year of high school Geometry.  This course is designed for students who earned at least an A- in Algebra I or a B- in Honors Algebra I at Justin-Siena.  Students who earn a B- or higher in this class will qualify for Algebra II.  This course includes the study of the basic principles of plane and coordinate geometry, developing problem solving skills, and preparing for more advanced mathematical studies.
DATES/TIMES:   This class meets 8am-2:30pm from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
COST:                 $1000 (or $900 if paid in full by May 31st)

Math Analysis:  This 5-unit course is the equivalent of a full semester of high school Math Analysis.  This course is designed for students who earned at least an A- in Algebra II and plan to take Honors Pre-Calculus the upcoming school year.  This course includes the study of elementary math functions and applications in problem solving, with particular attention to conics, polynomial functions, rational functions, sequences and series, and exponential and logarithmic functions and their applications.
DATES/TIMES:   This class meets as an independent study course with limited on-
                          campus meetings with
the instructor from June 21st-July 16th.
COST:                 $500 (or $450 if paid in full by May 31st)

Spanish Language Transition:  This 5-unit course is the equivalent of a full semester of lower-division Spanish Language.  This course is designed for students who earned a C+, C, or C- in Spanish II who plan to take Spanish III the upcoming school year.  This course includes reinforcement of key Spanish Language concepts that are required for success in upper-division Spanish Language classes. 
DATES/TIMES:   This class meets 11:30am-2:30pm from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
COST:                 $500 (or $450 if paid in full by May 31st)

SAT Prep:  This course is designed for incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors who wish to intensely prepare for the SAT exams.  This course will include preparation for all three parts of the SAT exam.  Full-length practice exams comprise a significant aspect of the course and are designed to provide students with considerable feedback to further assist their preparation for the SAT exams.  This course is offered at two different times during Summer School.
DATES/TIMES:   Session A meets 8am-11am from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
                          
Session B meets 11:30am-2:30pm from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
COST:                 $500 (or $450 if paid in full by May 31st)


REMEDIATION COURSES

English Language:  This 5-unit course is the equivalent of a full semester of high school English Language.  This course is designed for students who earned less than a C- in the previous school year.  Successful completion of this course (C- or higher) does not erase a student’s previous English grade, but it does affect a student’s overall grade point average and qualifies the student to advance in his/her English Language studies the upcoming school year.  This course is offered at two different times during Summer School.
DATES/TIMES:   Session A meets 8am-11am from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
                          
Session B meets 11:30am-2:30pm from June 21st-July 16th (M-F).
COST:                 $500 (or $450 if paid in full by May 31st)

Religious Studies:  This 5-unit course is the equivalent of a full semester of high school Religious Studies.  This course is designed for students who earned less than a C- in the previous school year.  Successful completion of this course (C- or higher) does not erase a student’s previous Religious Studies grade, but it does affect a student’s overall grade point average and qualifies the student to advance in his/her Religious Studies the upcoming school year.
